I emailed Mr. Prager in response to this column.
I agree with your point about symbolism Mr. Prager.Also,being a positive person,I hope you can see how this illustrates your preference for clarity over consensus.You sir,may now be fealing the heat but Mr. Ellison is pushed into a corner where he MUST "stay the course" as it were.
He started out to make a "statement". You called him on it and brought clarity to his intentions.
c.a.i.r.,the a.d.l. and other liars scream bloody (racist) murder as they misrepresent you,ie;show everyone what liars they really are.
You then give him a reasonable out.He can't do it or that negates the "statement".Again illustrating why he's really doing this.
Bottom line: You have shone a gigantic spotlight on a subject that is in need of it.Unfortunately,only some run TOWARDS the light,while many others scury away to the warm darkness of their own hearts.As for Medved/Mary Katherine Ham and other relatively sane folk,give them time,they'll come around (just maybe not in public so don't hold your breath).
Thank you for stirring things up Mr. Prager.There truly is no end to the mental stimulation provided by great minds such as you,Rush,Ann Coulter,Mark Levin,Michelle Malkin,Mark Steyn,Claudis Rossette and so many others.God bless you.
addendum: In case you don't know Pragers point, or you don't have the time to read the column, he is mearly bringing attention to the fact that Con. Ellison is breaking a tradition that goes back to George Washington by insisting on doing the ceremonial (and not required) swearing into office on a koran exclusively, without having a Bible even present . Mr. Prager wants no law to stop him. He simply wants the man to respect American tradition and not put himself above it in such an in our face way. Although I see the Medved view of saying, "Hey,you get what you vote for",I think it is brilliant and courageous of Mr. Prager to shine a light on what this means to our culture.
Just another chip off the old block of American exceptionalism.
