You're a cop.Something bad is about to happen.You try to stop it.The person suspected of intending to perpetrate the "something bad" runs you over with his car when you say stop.Accordingly, when someone yells,"He's got a gun", you and your partners discharge your weapons.
Everyone from racist New York councilmembers to Mayor Bloomberg to Sean Hannity have said that it is this big tragedy, with the inference leaning heavily on the "something went wrong with police procedure" school of thought at least to,"They're killing us! Oh God they're killing us again! " type of barbara stiesand you get out of the "Klan-With-a-Tan" types that always jump up to smear some blood on their shirts and scream fire in a crowded theater.
Sorry but this just seems like another opportunity lost to explain certain basic procedures for how to deal with the police.Like Chris Rock says in his very funny, but very apropos, instructional video,"Rule #1) Obey the law".
We could be teaching. Instead we are practicing more embarassing acts of public self flagellation. Well not we in the literal sense. Those guys are doing it.
Teach, your children well,
And all this hell,
Will surely go right by 'em.
